Why are water tanks always built on an elevated height?

While driving around the town have you ever seen the big water tanks treatment support wellington which is large elevated water storage tanks?  Actually there are a lot of people who just wonder by looking at those big walls.  These towers were building for a practical purpose - to supply water to the community.

Why are water tanks always built on an elevated height?

There are a lot of reasons to put these large tanks on an elevated height. Let’s check out:

Water pressure:

Now half of you will wonder what the relation between water pressure and the height is. The pressure is related to the height as it creates water pressure, and allows delivering water with more force.

There will be an increase of .43 psi per foot, if a municipal water tank is elevated to more than a hundred feet above ground.

With these water tanks you can really save a lot of time, money by installing the pumps. With a height like this, there are less chances of anyone to step in. It prevents contamination of water from rats or mice.

That is the reason why all the tanks are installed above the house. If the water is needed for outside use like in garden, elevating the tank is the best option, as the tank will provide a sufficient water pressure.

Pros and cons of elevated water tanks:

Pros:
Saving of the fossil fuels leads to less harm in the environment. Due to the height, the water creates extreme pressure, which eliminates the need of electric pump.

Ensures the supply of water for washing cars, gardening, or any other needs, even under the water restrictions.

Water coming from the Municipal system can be hazardous to health like it is not suitable to drink or of an unpleasant taste.

Cons:
Water in these tanks can get polluted through the pollutants present in the air, as there is rainwater. If the lid of the tank is left open, then surely the water will get mixed with the polluted air causing health issues.

There could be problems which can arrive through drainage problems. But the solutions can be getting through drainage supply wellington.

These water tanks have been always helpful. Even if there is no electricity then these tanks have the capacity to flow the water in everyone’s house without an electric pump.
It is not a hidden fact that these tanks have surely helped in supplying of water in many areas.
